We delighted to be able to work with Joe Chilcott, an up and coming acoustic guitarist and singer songwriter from Hampshire, on some promotional video content to help him in securing gigs and generally promoting himself.
Joe came to our studio by ferry, a short journey from the Isle of Wight where he lives and studies commercial music. It was a cold November morning but he managed to warm us all up by treating us to a few hours of amazing acoustic music. As Joe is in the process of playing and organising gigs around the south, we decided on a video that would be suitable to send to promotors to quickly show off his talents, both covering other artists, as well as the songs he has written himself.
We sat Joe in front of our green screen with two cameras and two high quality mics; one to record his guitar and on the other his voice. Using a mixing desk, our sound man Herbie was able to professionally blend the two together for a top CD quality sound. We recorded 12 tracks, and Joe wanted us to use 7 of them for his video. The following day we produced an edit that gives the audience roughly 20 seconds of each song. The background was green screened to black and the screen was split in two to make the most of the double camera work. The sound was given some finishing touches by Herbie to make it sound like it had come straight from a recording studio.
Joe was over the moon with the result and told us the video would be invaluable in helping him book gigs, and we are both keen to work with each other again. If you are interested in creating a music video at a very low cost, without needing to record your songs separately, please get in touch.
